The Noted

Earning Attention

By Daniel J. Curran

Listen up. The Noted, a Portland band, deserves your attention. More than 200 radio stations worldwide play over 15 songs from their song catalog in regular rotation. They’re garnering considerable notice of a band worth attention. The general public can access them on Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon, Pandora, and full-length streaming on Bandcamp and The Noted website.

“We want the audience to feel like they’ve just discovered a new hidden musical gem, with songs and music they immediate enjoy and relate to, even though they’ve never heard us before. We hope our songs take them on a comfortable but unpredictable musical journey,” says Daniel Work, Bandleader, and lead guitar.

The Noted has been together since 2011 with three albums to their recording credit. The Noted’s first album, At This Moment, was released in 2013. The second album release, Not Far Away, was released in 2015. The third album release, Lost and Found, was released in 2020, all to positive reviews. A recent single, “The Lucky Ones,” was released on November 26, 2021, and is found on their website and Bandcamp and will be on their fourth album, with a late 2022 release scheduled.

The Noted musicians have been around the musical block.

  • Daniel Work plays lead guitar, vocals, keyboards and is the primary band songwriter. His musical education includes the prestigious Michigan School of the Arts.
  • Jeff Koch plays both lead and rhythm guitar, acoustic and electric. Jeff is a musician’s musician in that he prides himself in playing to the song.
  • Mike Snyder on Drums and Percussion. A former LA film soundtrack recording artist and noted electronic drum expert. He is the product Development Manager—Innovation at Avedis Zildjian Company. He knows drums and percussion.
  • John Dywer on Bass guitar. He’s soulful. His bass guitar touch confirms it.
  • Angela Baldino shares vocals and songwriting credits. She can sing. Additionally, Angela plays piano, keyboards, and percussion. And, she currently teaches high school choirs.

“We hope to resume our live performances in 2022 at town festivals, city concerts, farmers markets, wineries, and private events,” said Work.

Versatility reigns supreme with this band. The band’s music touches a plethora of genres. You won’t find The Noted playing the bar scene since they are not a dance band but move a listening audience. However, The Noted has played multiple dates at McMenamin’s facilities and will continue to do those dates when the opportunity arises.

Their music is emotional. Thought-provoking. The harmonies are good. Solid rhythm section. Great lyrics. I understand the airplay they’re attaining after spending a considerable amount of time listening to their recordings online due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the limiting of live performances. The attention they’re receiving deserves a broad listening base.

“We play inspiring rock about life’s triumphs & tragedies. Songs reflect a wide range of emotions set in a diverse, often cinematic environment. Original music born from our collective love of rock, pop, jazz, vocal jazz, and progressive rock,” said Work.
