Daniel J. Curran’s writing style is indicative of his experience in journalism; no word is included unrequired. The sparse style belies the texture invoked by his moments in These Moments. Each tale is a film-worthy vignette, full of color and character, a transport to another time and place. For non-East Coasters (like myself) the book is a fully imagined visit to a place only seen on the screen. A few lines would have benefitted from one more edit, but the stories have so fully engulfed the reader, that they do not break the spell Curran has woven. The reader comes away feeling that they not only know Curran, but were with him in These Moments.
What a nice read! These Moments by Daniel Curran felt like sharing a trip into the past for this East Coaster. I enjoyed each vignette and was surprised by so many long-forgotten memories of my own that came to life again. It almost felt like a conversation. I commend the bravery it took to share so many personal moments both positive a negative…it speaks the truth and is very real. I will definitely pass this book on to my friends and maybe it will inspire some more shared moments.
